What Products to Track in Your Cnshopper Spreadsheet

TrackingApril 22, 20268 min read

Not every product deserves equal tracking effort. The key to a sustainable cnshopper spreadsheet is knowing which items to log in detail, which to track lightly, and which to skip entirely. This guide breaks down product tracking by category, value, and purpose so you spend your time on the items that actually matter while maintaining a complete financial record.

Tier 1: Full-Detail Tracking

These items get the complete column treatment: every field filled, every link saved, every status updated in real time. They are your highest-value, highest-risk, or highest-frequency purchases.

Footwear ($80+ per pair)

Shoes represent your largest individual purchases and most frequent resell candidates. Track size, colorway, box condition, and authentication status. These fields matter for resale value and fit verification.

Outerwear ($100+)

Jackets, coats, and heavy hoodies are high-value items with specific sizing concerns. Track shoulder width, length, and fit notes since return rates are higher for outerwear than other categories.

Limited Editions & Drops

Any item bought during a limited release needs tracking because it is likely a resell candidate. Track original retail price, resale market price at purchase, and current market value if you track over time.

Electronics & Accessories

Cases, chargers, and tech accessories from oocbuy often have warranty implications. Track purchase date meticulously since warranty periods start from order date, not delivery date.

Tier 2: Standard Tracking

These items get essential fields only: name, link, total cost, status, and date. You skip detailed variant tracking because the risk and complexity are lower.

T-Shirts & Basics ($15-50)

Standard sizing means fewer fit issues. Track color, size, and price. Skip detailed measurements unless you already know a brand runs small or large for your build.

Headwear & Accessories

Hats, socks, bags, and belts need basic tracking. The primary concern is confirming delivery rather than fit precision. A simple status and cost log suffices.

Underwear & Intimates

These are low-resale, personal-use items. Track only for budget awareness and return deadline management. Detailed variant tracking adds no practical value here.

Sets & Bundles

Track as a single line item with the total bundle cost. Note the individual pieces in the Notes column. Do not create separate rows for each piece unless you plan to sell components individually.

Tier 3: Minimal or No Tracking

These items are either too low-value to warrant tracking overhead or too routine to need systematic monitoring. You can log them as a single monthly line item if you want budget awareness, but individual row tracking is unnecessary.

Items under $10 that you buy repeatedly and predictably (basic socks, laces, cleaning supplies)
Digital goods without delivery concerns (e-gift cards, digital access codes)
Replacement items for previously tracked products (buying the same T-shirt in a new colorway after already tracking the original purchase)
Consumables that are not resellable or returnable (stickers, keychains, small accessories under $5)

Category-Specific Tracking Fields

Different product categories have unique tracking needs beyond the standard columns. Adding category-specific fields where relevant makes your spreadsheet significantly more useful without bloating every row.

The Wishlist-to-Purchase Pipeline

The most financially disciplined shoppers do not buy everything they want immediately. They use a wishlist pipeline that tracks items across three stages: Research, Target Price Set, Price Match Achieved, and Purchased. This system prevents impulse purchases and ensures you only buy when the price is right.

Research

Item discovered, price monitored. No commitment.

Target Price Set

You have determined the maximum you will pay.

Price Matched

Current price is at or below your target.

Purchased

Moved to Active Orders tab. Full tracking active.

Frequently Asked Questions
